What is a DSC?

DCS, i.e., Digital Signature Certificate, is one of the options to authenticate users on the GST portal.

The DSC is an encrypted document used to verify the identity of an entity while accessing information and services online or for the digital signature of documents.

These certificates are issued by authorized certifying bodies like Sify, E-Mudhra, and N-Code. After DSC is procured, users are obligated to register the same on the GST portal.

How to Install a Digital Signature Certificate?

A dialogue box might sometimes open up asking to plug in the token when someone files for a GST return with DSC. This happens because someone is using the DSC Pendrive for the first time on a computer.

How to install a Digital Signature Certificate?

For the Pendrive to work correctly, users need to run a simple setup. Follow the steps listed below to install the USB drive on the computer used to file GST returns.

Step 1: Insert the Pendrive with the Digital Signature Certificate in the USB port on the computer.

Step 2: Use Smart Tab to open My Computer and look for the Pendrive, and double click on it.

Step 3: Open the ‘ePass2003India-setup.exe’ installation file

Step 4: Then run the setup and select the Customer Service Point option as ‘Private CSP’

Step 5: Complete the installation

Step 6: The screen will now display a dialogue box with the message ‘Do you want to install this certificate?’. Click Yes and proceed.
